Everything is starting to seem a little flakey to me. I’m sure everyone has heard about Reggie Bush and his USC situation and how he gave his Heisman Trophy back. Honestly I feel those guys should be getting paid something more than a free college education anyway. You push them through with a degree in something they don’t really have a clue as to what they are going to do with anyway and a few injuries and tell them you may have a shot at the NFL.

The NFL had the same situation going on with their 2009 rookie of the year and gave the award back to the same person. Brian Cushing got caught with steroids in his system. I guess that’s not a big deal though and he went to USC too. They might want to go check their whole team out. I’ll bet if the NFL and NCAA go and do some serious testing and questioning they’ll find out a majority of those athletes took money and steroids before.  I say pay the athletes after high school and then you can punish them for breaking the rules. Let me give you a job and let you work it with no pay for 4 years or more and see what all you do to get money and then tell you okay now you can interview and apply and we might give you the job.

I’m not saying it is right to do, but they can look up what these teams make a season and at these bowl games just like I can. Now that’s not right, work me for peanuts while you holding on to all the money. Who cares if college athletes get paid? Probably all the folks with zero athletic ability, it is hard work. So until you’ve done it don’t act like you know what is or isn’t needed to do the job. Today was the day software maker Propellerhead released an upgrade to the powerful musical software, Reason and Record. I’ve been using Reason for a little under 2 years and Record for almost a year. The software was already great but now the  upgrade gives it even more great features. I’m sure if you are a Reason and Record user you already know about it but if you are not, check out some of the links below.

Same company different name, they should know better.  Still the same old same old, and i’m not talking about Brett Favre either. I’m talking about Bret that works in the auto and tire center at the Sam’s Club in Montgomery.  How about I get to my car one day this week and it’s dead; turn the key nothing happens.  So I’m like okay I’ll just jump it off and take the battery to get tested. I go to Sam’s, and I already knew my battery was dead because I had already jumped it off twice to get there. Well how about one of the guys that works there (Bret or Brent)  played like he was testing my battery and told me, “No sir your battery is good, it just needs charging and we don’t charge batteries go to Advanced Auto or Auto Zone.” Take mental note he had to jump my car off again so I could go to a place that could charge it.

I think he was mad because I parked my car by the dock door because I knew it would need to be close because it wasn’t going to crank anymore. I was second in line we he came and asked me, “what’s wrong with you car” and asked “Could you move your car for me?” He could have just manned up and said, “Hey I don’t want to check your car, I have a tire to change and some sweeping to do.” That’s better than telling me, “Your battery is fine sir” and then I go to Advanced Auto on Taylor road, 5 minutes away, car jerking and shaking the whole way and my battery went from, “It’s fine” to “Sir your car is running off the alternator, your battery has 10.49 volts.” So I’m like yeah okay what’s it supposed to be? And the guy at advanced auto said “It’s supposed to have 480 volts.” I was like man I was just told by old Bret boy at the Sam’s Club on the eastern blvd. (and that’s 1080 Eastern Blvd. to be exact, tire and battery department) that my battery was grade A and this guy tells me I riding on straight alternator. Don’t let Bret pump your gas cause if he don’t feel like it, he’ll just tell you he did it knowing he hadn’t done anything. (In my Rick James voice off Dave” Chappelle).

I guess another case of the customer is always wrong and will never be right unless they want you to be.  I know I won’t be going to get anything car related from there anymore unless they selling top notch air fresheners.  Check out the bi-weekly podcast Tha After Party, on www.tharedcarpet.com and you can contact me at greenknight@tharedcarpet.com.

I know everyone has heard about the Lebron James move and how sour the Cleveland Cavaliers owner has been about the superstar making the best move for his career. Lebron has been in Cleveland for 7 years and is a 2 time MVP, NBA scoring champion, 6 time all-star and James led the team to consecutive playoff appearances from 2006 through 2010. In 2007 he also helped the Cavaliers advanced to the Conference Finals for the first time since 1992 and to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history.

Now the Cavaliers have another player that has only played for them since 1997 that is leaving also. Zydrunas Ilgauskas will be joining Lebron James in Miami and will be signing a 2 year contract later this week. Why is it a big deal when James leaves and not when Ilgauskas leaves?  Let’s see another letter from the Cavaliers owner but this time blasting on Ilgauskas.  Nah, that’ll never happen. He really showed his true colors with his letter and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Cavaliers weren’t able to get another superstar for a while. He basically waited until James was out of the door and took every shot at him that he could.

Let me know what you think about this situation. Also check out Tha After Party, on www.tharedcarpet.com  bi-weekly and you can contact me at greenknight@tharedcarpet.com.
