Over the years we’ve began to hear that hip hop is not what it once was and you’ll even hear some go as far to say that it’s dead.  I wouldn’t go that far with it, a lot of people aren’t satisfied with what’s played on the radio airwaves. Now if you grade the entire industry off of 5 or 6 artist that gets shuffled on the radio all day, that wouldn’t be fair.  I find it difficult listening to the radio myself but I wouldn’t go rating the whole industry off of the radio. You have to look for talented artist and not just listen to what everyone else is listening to.

I know honestly I like listening to artist that should be getting play and aren’t getting the proper amount. Killer Mike, Tech 9, and Bun B, you know there’s a long list of talented artist that would be categorized as hip hop. I know right now I’m listening to the Kanye’s 808’s & heartbreaks, Ludacris’s Theater of the Mind, TI’s Paper Trail, Wayne’s Carter 3, Nas’s new album, and Bun B’s Trill. I do feel that hip hop has been over saturated with artist that don’t have their careers planed out properly, so that’s why we are seeing a lot of artist here one year and gone the next.  They work so hard to get that one radio hit to break them and when they get it, that’s really all that they had and no other plans.

Everything goes in cycles so very shortly after the industry re-adjust, the real talent will regain control.  Where do you feel hip hop is right now and what’s some of the music you have on your MP3 or in your disc player? Let me know what you are listening to and I may have a new artist that you can check out this week.
